About Everybody Can DANCE

Our History

Diane Rose Zink is the founder and artistic director of the non-profit Everybody Can DANCE, a Christian-based academy that offers a standard of excellence in a loving environment for all regardless of race, creed, ability, or age.

Diane received eight years of training from a professional who danced for the Chicago Opera Ballet and who was trained by Vera Volkova, a former Mariinsky/Kirov dancer who became the leading Western authority on the Vaganova Method.

Volkova was one of the first students of Agrippina Vaganova, founder of the renowned Vaganova Method used by the Mariinsky/Kirov and Bolshoi Ballet and in some form by all major ballet companies worldwide. Vaganova perfected the teaching of classical ballet into a workable syllabus. Her Fundamentals of the Classical Dance remains a standard textbook.

For 15 additional years, Zink studied the teaching of ballet with an American graduate of the Vaganova Choreographic Institute in St. Petersburg, Russia that trains teachers for the Maryinsky/Kirov Ballet. Even among top professionals, very few have this specific teacher training, and it is rare in the U.S.

In 2010 Zink received the Lifetime Award for the President's Call to Service for her volunteer work in teaching the art of ballet.

To this day, Zink continues to serve her community and keep the art of classical alive on the Central Coast. She trains all of her instructors to teach the Vaganova Syllabus. Above all else, she has created a space welcoming to all dancers who aspire to create art together and share it with their community.
