Santa Maria Civic Ballet

The SANTA MARIA CIVIC BALLET, founded in 2008 under the auspices of Everybody Can DANCE, consists of advanced dancers (Vaganova Level 5 and up) who can perform professional level choreography.

Admittance to the company is by audition with the artistic director, Diane Rose Zink. A company class meets biweekly, and company members also take classes for ballet technique, character, and pointe. These classes give company members a challenging structure in which to practice and perform their art, and prepare motivated students who wish to pursue a career in ballet.

Coaching and preparation for ballet competitions is offered for advanced students, as well as unique choreography to display their distinctive talents. Additionally, the opportunity to learn to teach the Vaganova Syllabus used by classical ballet companies worldwide is made available to advanced students.

Authentic choreography from classical ballets is taught and performed as well as new choreographic works. The most technically difficult lead parts in performances are assigned to members of the Santa Maria Civic Ballet.

Membership in the company is open to teens and adults.
